1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using StorySquiggle, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

• You must be a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older to create an account on StorySquiggle.
• Children access the platform only through a parent or guardian's account and under parental supervision.
• By registering, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal authority to agree to these Terms.
• StorySquiggle is designed for children ages 1 through 9, but all account creation and management is performed by parents or guardians.

3. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You are responsible for your child's use of the Service and agree to supervise their access as appropriate for their age.
• You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Intellectual Property

Platform ownership: StorySquiggle and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by StorySquiggle and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Generated content: All stories, characters, images, and other creative content generated through the Service are owned by StorySquiggle. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that StorySquiggle retains all rights, title, and interest in and to any content produced on or through the platform.

License to use: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use generated content for personal, non-commercial purposes within the platform and, for paid subscribers, to download and share stories as permitted by your subscription plan.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Generate, request, or distribute harmful, abusive, threatening, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content.
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any safety features, content filters, or moderation systems.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or computer systems.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service without our prior written consent.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.

6. Subscription & Billing

StorySquiggle offers a free tier and paid subscription plans:

• Free tier: Limited to 1 story per day with stories expiring after 7 days. No payment required.
• Paid plans: Explorer and Family plans are available with monthly or annual billing. Prices are as listed on our website at the time of purchase.
• Recurring charges: Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for the remaining period.
• Refunds: We may issue refunds at our discretion. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using the Service, please contact us within 14 days for assistance.
• Price changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect for existing subscribers.

7. Content & AI Generation

StorySquiggle uses artificial intelligence to generate interactive stories and images. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Stories and images are generated by AI and may occasionally contain errors, inconsistencies, or unexpected content.
• While we implement age-appropriate content filtering and safety measures, no automated system is perfect. We encourage parents to review content and report any concerns.
• Generated content is intended for entertainment and educational purposes. It should not be relied upon for factual accuracy.
• We continuously improve our content generation and safety systems based on user feedback and technological advances.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STORYSQUIGGLE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, including but not limited to if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your right to access and use the Service will immediately cease.
• We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
• Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through your account settings.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice via email to the address associated with your account.

Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
